Horse home care

Horse Home Care is offered for horses needing more regular therapy work or rehabilitation after an injury. With the full range of therapies that I offer – the turn around and recovery rate can be much quicker and cheaper having your horse here than at home.

We offer therapy and exercise for horses that stay in large open paddocks. They have company of other horses next door as well and if necessary we can arrange for another horse to be put in the same paddock with them. They are checked twice daily with covers changed and feeding part of the service. Horses staying get treated like one of the family and most don’t want to go home! We have a selection of paddocks that horses can go in - including a track if your horse needs restricted grass intake.

Owners can visit their horse as often as they like and are also encouraged to be a part of the home care program if they wish.

Prices start at:

Grazing: from $10 a day

This cost includes taking off/changing covers as required. Horses checked twice daily. Fed supplied feed or hay and/or medication.

Feet: If trimming or shoe removal required $30

We can also arrange for a farrier of you choice if preferred.

Initial Treatment on Horse: $85.

This includes full case history, saddle checks, therapy and body work. Also discussion with vet if required.

Follow Up Sessions: from $50

How many of these required will depend on the horse’s individual needs. I usually try and do stretches and exercises at least every second day or organize for Dave to do them if I’m not here.

Exercising: from $25

This may be hand walking the horse, specific in hand groundwork exercises or ridden work as required.

Extras and GST

All feed, supplements, hay and medications to be supplied by owner if required. Prices do not include gst. They will however be added to the final account.
