Girths are often forgotten about until there is a problem. You would be amazed how many horses are reactive putting the saddle on that have a girth issue. Behavioural problems from bad girths are not uncommon.
Looking at these two girths side by side they look ok. Look up close and you will see cracks, cuts, and broken webbing and over stretched elastic. Have a feel down your girth with your flat hand. If you feel rough horrible plastic - it’s time to change your girth!! Remember how sensitive horses skin are. If they have to have one of these girths done up every time you ride and feel that horrible rough surface no wonder they are reactive!!
